About Us
About Bankruptcy Mentor
We believe that every person facing a debt crisis deserves clear, honest information — without pressure, without jargon, and without judgment.
Our Mission
BankruptcyMentor.com was built on a simple premise: the people who need bankruptcy information most are often the least equipped to find it. They're overwhelmed, embarrassed, and bombarded with confusing legal language and aggressive advertising.
We set out to change that. Our goal is to give you the clearest, most accurate bankruptcy education available — so you can understand your situation, know your options, and make informed decisions without feeling pressured or confused.
We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. What we provide is education — the kind of plain-English explanation that helps you understand what bankruptcy is, how it works, and whether it might be right for you.
What We Stand For
Clarity over complexity
We translate legal and financial jargon into plain English that anyone can understand.
Education without pressure
We give you information and let you decide. We never push you toward any particular outcome.
Accuracy above all
Every piece of content is reviewed for accuracy. We update our content when the law changes.
Judgment-free zone
Financial hardship can happen to anyone. We treat every person with dignity and respect.
The Educators Behind This Content
Matt Englett graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida Southern College in 1994, then earned his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 1998. He became a member of the Florida Bar that same year. After beginning his career as a prosecutor, he started his own firm and became one of Florida's most recognized consumer attorneys. In 2008, he was the first attorney in Florida to practice foreclosure defense, loan modifications, and short sales — a field he is widely credited with pioneering. He simultaneously built a bankruptcy practice, growing his firm from 100 to over 300 employees and from $12 million to $50 million in annual revenue. He continues to practice bankruptcy law in an "of counsel" capacity with Suncoast Law, and maintains a separate real estate practice representing corporations and consumers throughout Florida.
